Tall Tale--John Bill VS Davy Crocket

John Bill killed his first bear when he was three. I heard that John was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As a newborn, John could holler so loud he scared all the fish out of the rivers and streams. His parents had to milk two dozen cows every morning and night to keep his milk bottle full and his mother had to feed him ten barrels of porridge every two hours to keep his stomach from rumbling and knocking the house down. Later, after his early years, he could skin a bear before you could clap your hands. In fact, he after he used his knife, he had to get a new one, because the old one was broken. John could spin his hands so fast, that he could make a tornado, and then he would jump onto the tornado and ride it around. One day, Davy Crockett challenged John to a contest. The Contest would have three parts, and the first part was a fishing contest. The second part was a hunting contest, and the third part was a wrestling contest. John gladly accepted. For the first part, Davy got to fish first. He took out his musket, and fired 500 shots into the pond. There was no fish left, so John went to a different pond. John screamed as loud as he could, and all the fish jumped out of the water. Then John quickly caught all of them with his knife. They both smiled at each other, because the first part was a tie.Secondly, was the hunting part, in which they both had to hunt an animal, and by the end of one hour, one of them would be chosen as the winner by a judge. So they both set out in search of an animal. John went into a forest looking for a bear to hunt. He found a bear cave, and he hollered as loud as he could to scare the bear. The bear was frightened alright. I think it screamed, but others think he was hollering back. But both ways, he was angry. John tried using his knife, but the bear was too tough. So John socked him in the face and he fell down. Then John kicked him so hard, he went flying and made Crater Lake when he hit the ground. John took him to the judge and Davy had caught an alligator. The Judge said it was a tie, so only the third part remained. Who ever wins this, wins the contest. Now came the wrestling part. A mat was made especially for this wrestling match. It was larger than a house, and Davy and John stepped onto the mat. John started the match by punching Davy so hard, that it would have sent a bull flying to Florida. But Davy stood his ground. John tried to punch him again, but it was now use. Davy was a mountain. John kept on trying to punch Davy across the mat, but he couldn’t. He got tired and tired until he fell asleep. John had lain down for more than 10 seconds. Davy had won. When John woke up, he was so angry that he lost the contest, the smashed his hands onto the ground so hard that he made the Grand Canyon. When the dirt went flying through the air, John kicked it so hard, that it made the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Global Warming

Global warming is a big problem today. Some people know that, others don't. Do you know why global warming is a big problem? Well, I going to tell you why. First of all, it is a big problem because if global warming keeps on going the ocean would rise rapidly and flood lots of land. In this land there are some major cities, so that would cause a lot of trouble. Secondly, it would shorten food because global warming harms and kills algae, and algae is a main source of food in the ocean. That would cause a shortage of food in the ocean. So that takes sea food off of the list. Third of all, it would also cause many droughts and floods that would lead to many troubles. The cause of this is evaporation and raining

Trapped 2

If you didn't read "Trapped 1" already, please read it before you read the rest of this. P.S. It is next after this blog.

Introduction
When we last left off, Davy Stark was stuck in a bad situation. He was tied up to a chair, blindfolded, and gaged. He also heard his bodyguard, Brad, talking about him. Now, he was thinking about why this was going on.

Trapped 2

Brad didn't like Davy, because he didn't get a high pay, he wasn't treated well, he didn't get any respect, and lots of other things. He agreed with some other people that didn't like Davy Stark, to kidnap Davy and hold him for ransom. He told Tom Handly and Justin Linbrook to wait for him and tie Davy up and take him to the back of Ethan Fin's van. Matt and him would get in the van and drive to the haunted house 37 miles away on a old dirt road. The rest would follow in there own cars.

Davy was sitting in his dress room, when the 2 men from picked him up and put him somewhere. Then all of a sudden, what ever he was sitting on started to move and stop, move and stop, move and stop... After a while, Davy started to feel bumps, hear people talking, and hear police sirens for a while. Then the thing he was sitting in suddenly stopped. A door opened and someone carried him out. Now where am I going, thought Davy.

Trapped 1

Here he was, Davy Stark the big rock star. It was the end of an exciting 5 hour concert. The fans cheered and screamed. Davey's head poured with sweet like a fountain, his face was red from singing, and his heart pumped and thumped like a drum. He felt like he was in power and control. He decided to do a couple more songs: his most favorite ones. When he started, the crowd went wild. At the end, he went back into his dressing room and found 2 men waiting for him. They locked the door behind him and Davey shouted for his bodyguard Brad, but no one came. The men tied Davey to a chair, blindfolded him, and gaged Davy. Davy heard his bodyguard next door taking to someone else and saying that Davy deserved it. Why Davy thought to himself, What is going on?

The Truth about Jack

In The Truth about Jack the giant of Jack and the beanstalk talks about what really happened. He says that Jack lied. The giant is a decent fellow, really.

First of all, the giant is a decent fellow because he offered Jack dinner and sweets. Jack was climbing up the beanstalk and went into the giant's castle when the giant met him. The giant says," Jack climbed up the and burst into my castle. He wasn't very polite, but I waned company and offered him diner and sweets." The giant offered Jack dinner and sweets even though Jack wasn't very polite. This shows that he is a decent fellow.

Secondly, the giant is a decent fellow because he even tried to have a conversation with Jack about the world below. So he really cares about other people . He days," As I tried to have a pleasant conversation to learn about the world below, Jack's eyes wandered around the room." He says he wanted to learn about the world below which means he cares about others.

Thirdly, the giant is a decent fellow because he even wanted to be friends with Jack, which means he is friendly. The story says," Since I had spent so much time alone, I wanted Jack to be my friend." This says that the giant wanted to be friends with Jack

In conclusion, the giant is a decent fellow because he offered Jack dinner and sweets, tried to learn about the world , and tried to be friends with Jack. So don't believe Jacks version, and believe the Giant.

The End

3/12/09 at school

Today when I got to school; the bell rang as soon as I got there. I lined up with my class and Mr. M let us in. On the white board, there were 2 math questions. The first question was about comparing fractions, and the second was very hard. After we watched CNN Student News, we started to correct last night’s homefun (homework). But we didn’t finish and had to go to P.E.

For P.E., we started with a lap around the field and played Sharks and Minnows. “Great” I thought to myself, I loved Sharks and Minnows. Next, we played Capture
The Flag.

Next in line was our Social Studies Test. After I finished the test I started on my homefun (homework) for tonight.

During recess, I played handball with Ethan L. and Rachel. I was going to practice the poetry project with them but no one brought the poem. The bell rang after a while.

After the whole class got back into the classroom, we did SSR (Silent Sustained Reading). Mr. M told everyone to get into groups by the book they were reading (21 Balloons, From the Mixed-Up Files of Basil E. Frankweiler, Shiloh, or The Phantom Tollbooth). Mr. M went to a group and talked to them about the book they were reading.

The next topic was writing. Mr. Manchester pulled cards and who ever was pulled had to describe a work of art in their house. Mine was about this couch which had carvings on it.

Before lunch, we did a spelling test and had a Wordly Wise Game Show. My table group (San Juan Capistrano) tied with San Luis Obispo. During Lunch I was practicing the play and playing handball at the same time with the people in my group (Ethan L., Manasa, Rachel, Payal, and me). About 40 min. later (I think) the bell rang and we lined up.

When the class got back in, the A/V club (my club) went first to the library. Mrs. Fitzgerald (the Liberian) told us that there was going to be a book fair soon and showed us some new books.

It was Drama club’s turn to go to the library so we went back to the classroom. Mr. M said it was time to change, so Drama went to the library. The A/V club then went outside to film there movies in groups. My group is Suhas, Daniel, and me. After a while Mr. M told everyone to go in.

When we got in, we were by ourselves meaning the other group wasn’t back yet. Mr. M said to get out our binders and we were going to do a Mad Lib. I liked Mad Libs because they are funny. Once we were done we copied tonight’s homework down and had some R.A. After we finished R.A., Mr. M dismissed us. It was the end of today.

A Poem about January

January
By Jasun Chen

The sky's a white blanket,
covering everything from chimneys to trees,
it covers everything ,
to as far as the eye sees.

Happy faces are here and there,
and so are fireworks,
A family sits together,
as one reads a book.

Kids catch snowflakes on their tongue,
and have fun snowball fights,
people go see white mountains ,
and other a snowy sights.

I like to drink hot chocolate,
near the fireplace,
as it warms up
my cheerful happy face.

"Ding Ding Ding"rang the bell. My class went in. First, we did some math on the white board. Then we corrected some math homework. After that, Mr. Manchester our teacher told us about the math team. He would choose 4 students from the class for the math team. He would choose 4 students for the math team by seeing which one of us is the best math person. To add to our chances to get in the math team, he is giving us a test. Which he gave us and after that it was recess.

During recess I played with my friend Jasper. Jasper and I played Star Wars. Next the bell rang and we went in.

SSR(silent sustained reading) was next. I'm reading The Horse and His Boy.We read for about 20 min. Then we had our DOL Quiz and Wordly Wise test. When we were done we read some more.

Some time later, it was Music. Mr. Manchester dismissed us by our tables. During Music my music teacher Mrs. Gray taught the whole forth grade Jingle Bells. And after that it was Lunch.

Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing

The name of a book I read is Tales Of a Fourth Grade Nothing by: Judy Blume. The story takes place in modern New York. The characters are Peter,a 9-year-old boy, and his brother Fudge, a 2-year-old boy. The problem is that Fudge keeps on messing up everything and gets all the attention, and makes Peter fell like nothing.
For example, at the park Peter's mom leaves Fudge and puts a girl named Shelia Tubman in charge of Fudge. Then Shelia goofs off and plays and Fudge climbs to the top of a playground and tries to fly. But he can't so he fell down and knocked his two front teeth out. But Peter's mom blamed Peter even though Shelia was in charge of Fudge. This made peter feel like nothing.
Another example of Fudge getting all the attention and making Peter feel like nothing is when they went to the dentist and the nurse pays more attention to Fudge than Peter. Then Fudge won't open his mouth and the dentist uses Peter to make Fudge open his mouth. This makes Peter feel like nothing.
At the end of the book. Peter's problem is solved when Fudge eats Peter's turtle. . And he goes to the hospital and everyone pays attention to Fudge but when they get the turtle out, Peter's parents realized that they been letting Fudge take all the attention and to make it up to Peter they get him a dog. Then Peter feels like something.
